Role Overview

We are looking for a Lead Engineer to build and scale a technology-first RCM (Revenue Cycle Management) platform.

This is a high-ownership, builder role where you will work closely with leadership and domain experts to design systems that power end-to-end billing workflows.

You will own the design and evolution of a core platform that directly impacts revenue and operational scalability.

The role requires strong expertise in system design, workflow automation, and integrations, along with the ability to translate complex operational processes into scalable software systems.

Key Responsibilities

1. System Design & Development

• Design and build scalable backend systems for billing and operational workflows
• Develop modular, API-driven architecture for high-volume transaction processing
• Ensure reliability, performance, and auditability of systems

2. Workflow & Process Automation

• Convert manual operational workflows into structured, automated systems
• Build workflow engines for task routing, tracking, and resolution
• Continuously improve system efficiency and reduce manual intervention

3. Integrations & Data Flow

• Build and manage integrations with external systems and partners
• Ensure seamless data exchange, validation, and reconciliation
• Design systems for real-time or near real-time status tracking

4. Exception Handling & Optimization

• Design systems to track and manage exceptions and edge cases
• Build tools to identify recurring issues and improve resolution efficiency
• Optimize system performance across high-volume workflows

5. Collaboration with Operations & Engineering

• Work closely with RCM domain experts to understand workflows
• Partner with the engineering team to align with overall architecture and standards
• Translate business processes into scalable system design

6. Observability & Reporting

• Build monitoring and dashboards for system performance and workflows
• Ensure traceability across transactions and system states
• Support data-driven decision-making

Qualifications

Must-Have

• 6–10+ years of backend engineering experience
• Strong system design and architecture skills
• Experience building scalable, API-driven systems
• Experience working with workflow-heavy or transaction-heavy platforms
• Strong understanding of asynchronous processing, reliability, and data flows

Preferred

• Experience in healthcare RCM (Revenue Cycle Management)
• Exposure to US healthcare billing workflows or claims lifecycle
• Experience with integrations involving external systems or partners
• Experience in fintech, insurance, logistics, or similar domains
• Startup or high-growth environment experience
