Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented, proactive Lab Technician / Lab Operations Coordinator who can execute day-to-day lab operations (sample handling, QC, kitting, PCR/histopathology support) and also contribute to AxisOne operations, including lab onboarding, customer coordination, and project workflow management. This is a hands-on role with growth into operations, quality systems, and client-facing project execution.
Key ResponsibilitiesA) Lab Operations & Testing Support
- Receive, accession, log-in, label, aliquot, and process biological samples per SOPs (blood, serum/plasma, swabs, urine, stool, tissue/FFPE, etc.)
- Perform QC checks: condition/quantity verification, labeling accuracy, documentation review, chain-of-custody verification
- Support PCR/qPCR workflows (as applicable): reagent prep, plate setup, pipetting, documentation, contamination control practices
- Support histopathology-related workflows (as applicable): FFPE block/slide handling, slide labeling/tracking, H&E/IHC workflow support and coordination
- Assemble clinical/research kits (kitting, packaging, component verification, documentation)
B) AxisOne Support: Lab Onboarding & Network Operations
- Support onboarding of new labs into the AxisOne ecosystem (collect lab profile info, capabilities, equipment, certifications, sample requirements, turnaround times, pricing inputs)
- Help validate lab information and maintain accurate records (capability mapping, service menus, compliance documents, contacts)
- Assist in coordinating initial test projects/pilot work with newly onboarded labs (kickoff steps, checklists, readiness verification)
C) Customer & Project Workflow Management
- Support project coordination from request → quote → execution → shipment/report delivery (internal coordination + lab coordination)
- Maintain clear customer communication on timelines, requirements, and status updates (email/phone, professional tone)
- Track tasks, milestones, issues/risks, and deliverables; escalate blockers early
- Maintain project records in LIMS/CRM/project tracking tools; ensure audit-ready documentation
D) SOPs, Quality Systems & Continuous Improvement
- Draft, update, and maintain SOPs, work instructions, checklists, forms, and training documentation
- Participate in deviations/nonconformances, CAPA support, and root-cause documentation (as applicable)
- Identify operational improvements (errors, rework, bottlenecks) and propose better workflows
- Support training of new team members on SOPs and best practices
Required Qualifications
- 1–3+ years experience in a lab environment (clinical, research, biobank, molecular lab, histology lab, or similar)
- Strong sample handling + documentation/QC discipline; comfortable following SOPs precisely
- Strong organization + communication skills (able to coordinate across teams and follow through)
- Comfort with basic tools: spreadsheets, shared drives, inventory systems, LIMS or similar
- Comfortable standing/walking during shifts and lifting typical lab supply/shipping boxes
Preferred Qualifications
- PCR/qPCR exposure (plate setup, reagent prep, contamination control, documentation)
- Histopathology exposure (FFPE blocks/slides, slide tracking, H&E/IHC workflow support)
- Experience creating or improving SOPs and checklists
- Experience with customer coordination, project coordination, or operations (even if informal)
- Familiarity with CRM/project tools (e.g., HubSpot, Salesforce, Asana, Monday, Jira—any equivalent)
- Understanding of GxP/CLIA/CAP-style documentation and quality systems
