Role Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Laboratory Assistant to join our research and development team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for processing and inventorying incoming samples, assisting with sample preparation for experimental work and general laboratory management tasks including ordering, stock checks and equipment maintenance. This role provides an excellent opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in a collaborative and innovative environment. The candidate will report directly to the Laboratory Director and collaborate with research scientists, technicians, and other members of the R&D team.
Key Responsibilities
Receipt and aliquoting of samples in accordance with internal accessioning procedures.
Management of laboratory inventories and regular stock-checks to ensure accuracy.
Assisting with sample preparation, buffer preparation and other experimental work as needed.
Maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment.
Purchasing and tracking laboratory consumables, reagents and equipment.
Meticulous record keeping, including timely completion of entries in the Electronic Laboratory Notebook.
Ensuring compliance with company SOPs and EHS policies
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Clinical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology or a related discipline.
Experience:
Strong attention to detail, particularly whilst carrying out repetitive (but essential) tasks.
Confident pipetting and sample handling skills.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple inventories and maintain clear concise records.
Positive attitude, willingness to learn and proactive problem-solving approach
Preferred:
Familiarity with regulatory standards (e.g. ISO 13485) or GMP.
Experience in immunoassays and/or mass spectrometry.
Experience working in a containment level 2 laboratory.
Skills & Competencies:
Teamwork and collaboration in a fast-paced research environment.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Adaptability and ability to manage shifting priorities.
