The Knowledge Manager role is created to ensure that critical scientific and technical knowledge generated by R&D is captured, structured, traceable, accessible, and reusable throughout the product lifecycle.
1. Key Responsibilities and Activities
Knowledge Capture
- Extract tacit engineering know-how from R&D, process engineering, and pilot run operations. Whereas the content of the scientific knowledge remains the ownership of the R&D staff, the role ensures that all technical elements fostering the collective competency of the R&D team are documented.
- Structure and maintain the company’s central technical documentation base.
- Participate in lessons-learned sessions after key experiments, incidents, and project milestones. Guide and support scientists and engineers in documentation.
- Create and maintain templates, standards, and documentation frameworks for usage of scientist and engineers
Compliance
- Ensure the documentation structure properly address operational regulatory obligations.
- Be the reference for document readiness and accessibility for external audits and certifications (ISO, HAZOP, ICPE, ATEX).
Tooling & Process Governance Participation
- In cooperation with IT, contribute in selecting and implementing knowledge management and documentation tools (PLM, DMS, wiki, version control)
- Guide documentation writers in classification, access control, and versioning standards in coordination with IT
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Facilitate knowledge transfer between R&D and industrialization teams
- Contribute to R&D project governance: documentation discipline, decision traceability, and follow-up
- Develop onboarding materials that get new engineers up to speed quickly
- Support IP processes by maintaining structured patent-support documentation
2. Working Relationships
Reporting: to the CTO
Internal : You work in close collaboration with R&D scientists and engineers (knowledge capture), Operations and industrialization (process documentation), Quality (audit readiness), and IT (tooling and access control).
External : interactions include certification and audit bodies (ISO, ICPE, ATEX, HAZOP) as needed.
3. Required Qualifications and Experience
Essential
- Engineering degree (Bac+5) in a relevant field: materials, process engineering, systems engineering, electronics, or equivalent
- 5+ years of experience in a technical industrial environment — ideally in deep-tech, semiconductors, aerospace, energy, or advanced manufacturing
- Real technical credibility: able to understand, challenge, and synthesise complex technical information
- Knowledge of technical documentation frameworks and quality standards
- Ability to enforce structure without creating friction
- Excellent written communication in both English and French
- English mandatory, French and German are a plus.
Nice to Have
- Experience with PLM, DMS, or wiki tools (Confluence, SharePoint, Teamcenter, or similar)
- Exposure to IP / patent processes
- Familiarity with SiC, power electronics, or semiconductor manufacturing
Typical Backgrounds
- Knowledge manager
- Simulation engineer looking to move into a knowledge-focused role
- Quality engineer with significant R&D exposure
- Senior technical writer with a strong engineering background
- Experienced project engineer in a technical industrial environment (Systems engineer or technical program manager)
4. Specific Conditions
Location:
Chambery (HQ) — partial remote possible
Language :
English and French, both mandatory
5. What We Offer
- Competitive salary and flexible working conditions — €40,000 to 57,000 depending on experience and profile
