About the Department
The McMaster Manufacturing Research Institute (MMRI) is one of the largest universities based multi-disciplinary manufacturing research institutes in Canada and is responsible for supporting a wide range of academic and industry research programs. The MMRI is equipped with a full complement of industry scale machinery designed to meet the sophisticated research and development needs of leading manufacturers. As such the MMRI provides a focus for high-profile research and serves as a vehicle for university-industry-government interaction. In addition, the institute promotes, encourages, and performs fundamental and applied research in cooperation with its university-industry-government partners and provides systematic mechanisms for technology transfer.
About the Position
MMRI is seeking an Institute Administrator (Financial) to support the day-to-day operations of the institute under the supervision of the director with the overall objective of promoting the institute and maintaining its efficient operation. This position involves working within the framework of the institute’s vision and supporting this vision by developing and implementing a wide range of administrative and operating procedures. Work will be done in close collaboration with Faculty, staff, graduate students, and research interns under the direction of the director and senior staff.
The Institute Administrator (Financial) is responsible for financial administration, developing and maintaining the institute’s image as well as its marketing and business plans. A major component of this position involves working with faculty and senior staff to develop research proposals and engaging with faculty, staff and students to organize research papers and reports to both industry and government funding partners.
Job Summary
The Institute Administrator (Financial) is accountable for developing, implementing, and maintaining the efficient operation of a department or institute. Requires independent decision making within a delegated area of authority and the exercise of leadership in the management of support services. Responsible for applying knowledge and understanding of accounting policies and procedures to manage the financial activities of a portfolio of research projects.
