As an Infrastructure Specialist supporting AI × robot foundation model development at AIRoA, you will be responsible for the design, construction, and operation of our infrastructure (cloud platforms, on-premise environments, etc.). You will provide GPU clusters, large-scale data platforms, and developer tooling as “services,” creating an environment in which researchers and engineers can run experiments and develop products with minimal friction. In addition to optimizing availability, performance, and security from an SRE perspective, you will also take the lead in incident response and continuous improvement of operational processes.
【What Makes the “Infrastructure Specialist” Role at AIRoA Unique】
AIRoA is a national-level project that aims to develop world-class robot foundation models by leveraging massive datasets and real-world robots. The infrastructure you build and operate will form the backbone of a “robot data ecosystem” used by researchers and developers around the globe.
In this high-load environment—where large-scale data processing and training jobs run in parallel—you will be able to fully leverage your experience as an SRE or cloud architect while contributing directly to cutting-edge R&D that connects straight to real-world deployment.
【The Appeal of Taking On This Challenge at AIRoA, Just as We Are Getting Started】
Established in December 2024 with a mission to build a robot data ecosystem and ramping up full-scale activities in FY2025, AIRoA is very much in its launch phase. Leading Japanese companies and research institutions participate as members, forming a unique ecosystem.
We are now in the phase of designing and implementing what will become our “standard” infrastructure architecture, operational processes, and SLOs/SLAs. This role offers the opportunity to design ML infrastructure and robot AI platforms to global standards and to translate your own view of best practices into real systems and operations.
【Other】
While remote work is possible, this role is primarily expected to be office-based.
Most of our engineers and researchers also work on-site, conducting research and development directly in front of the robots.
【About AIRoA】
AIRoA was established in December 2024 with two core objectives: “to revolutionize the technology of robot development through the fusion of robots and AI” and “to promote the use of robots in society.” While AI is rapidly advancing worldwide, the shortage of data in robot development has become a critical issue.
To address this challenge, we are running a national flagship project funded by NEDO (New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization), with an investment of over JPY 20 billion.
AIRoA has launched large-scale R&D projects, including the development of robot foundation models. To support these initiatives, we have adopted a high-performance GPU cloud and are building a full-fledged environment for training and experimentation.
Looking ahead to further growth in the number of projects, the volume of data, and the users of our platforms, it has become essential to have a dedicated specialist who can take ownership of our infrastructure and successfully balance “stable operations,” “scalability,” and “security.”
You will take ownership of understanding the configuration of our cloud platform, storage, network, and authentication infrastructure, and drive both their enhancement and the establishment of robust operational structures.
In the mid to long term, you will lead the design of infrastructure architecture aligned with the roadmap for our robot foundation models and data ecosystem, as well as the advancement of our security and governance frameworks. Your mission is to provide infrastructure that is highly usable and reliable for researchers and engineers.

Preferred Qualifications:
We currently operate out of a spacious office and research facility of over 1,000 m² located in the Ryutsu Center area. In this space, our business teams and engineering teams work in close collaboration, advancing both day-to-day operations and R&D with AI robots always close at hand. The facility is frequently visited not only by members of the AI Robot Association, but also by engineers and researchers from partner companies and representatives from member companies. As a result, it serves as a hub where diverse experts at the forefront of AI and robotics gather and interact.
Today, highly skilled engineers and researchers from around the world are part of our organization. Some members have even relocated from overseas to Japan to join our projects on site. We aim to build a globally open R&D organization where diverse talent, regardless of nationality or background, come together, inspire one another, and shape the future.
