AcadAlly is a fast-growing EdTech platform dedicated to personalised, outcome-driven learning for K-12 students. Our mission is to give every learner a crystal-clear map of where they stand and where they are headed. We are now building a comprehensive Learning Outcomes Map (LOM) starting from the IB curriculum — and Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics) form the second critical pillar of this initiative.
ROLE OVERVIEW
As IB Curriculum Specialist (Sciences), you will be the subject-matter expert responsible for decomposing the full IB MYP and DP Sciences syllabi (Biology, Chemistry, and Physics) into discrete, measurable learning outcomes — exactly one outcome per concept — and organising them into coherent, navigable graphs that power AcadAlly's adaptive learning engine. This is a foundational, high-ownership role reporting directly to the Head of Content.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Learning Outcomes Mapping — Sciences
- Audit the full IB MYP Sciences (Years 1–5) and IB DP Biology, Chemistry, and Physics syllabi (SL and HL).
- Decompose every topic and sub-topic into atomic, assessable learning outcomes — one per concept node — structured as a directed acyclic graph (DAG) with prerequisite relationships clearly mapped.
- Tag each outcome with Bloom's Taxonomy level (Remember → Create), IB ATL skill clusters, Nature of Science (NOS) links, and difficulty band.
- Validate outcomes against official IB subject guides, specimen papers, Internal Assessment (IA) criteria, and mark schemes.
2. Curriculum Alignment
- Cross-reference IB Sciences outcomes with CBSE, IGCSE, Cambridge A-Level Sciences, and AP Biology/Chemistry/Physics to identify equivalences and gaps.
- Ensure all outcomes are SMART and fully compliant with current IB Sciences subject guides (2023 onwards).
- Conduct structured peer-review cycles with external IB examiners and subject specialists; incorporate feedback within agreed timelines.
3. Documentation & Data Output
- Author the Sciences LOM Style Guide — defining grammar, taxonomy, and tagging conventions across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
- Produce structured outputs (Google Sheets / JSON schema) ready for ingestion by the product and engineering teams.
- Maintain version-controlled curriculum documents with a change-log aligned with annual IB guide updates.
4. Collaboration & Enablement
- Work closely with Head of Content to phase the rollout: IB Sciences first, then CBSE, IGCSE, Cambridge A-Level, AP.
- Brief instructional designers, tutors, and QA reviewers on LOM structure, NOS tagging, and IA alignment.
- Liaise with the product team to translate the Sciences LOM into adaptive-learning feature requirements.
5. Ongoing Maintenance
- Monitor annual IB Sciences guide updates and refresh the LOM within agreed timelines during the contract period.
- Analyse learner-performance data (supplied by product) to identify outcome gaps, refine granularity, and flag conceptual misalignments.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Must-Have
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a Science discipline (Biology, Chemistry, Physics) or Science Education.
- 4+ years of hands-on IB curriculum experience as an IB Sciences teacher, examiner, curriculum coordinator, or content developer.
- Deep familiarity with at least two of the three IB DP Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics — SL & HL) and IB MYP Sciences.
- Demonstrated ability to write clear, measurable, Bloom's-aligned learning outcomes at scale across multiple subjects.
- Strong documentation and data-structuring skills (Google Sheets / MS Excel proficiency essential).
Nice-to-Have
- IB DP Sciences examiner, workshop leader, or IA moderator experience.
- Familiarity with CBSE, IGCSE, Cambridge A-Level Sciences, or AP Biology/Chemistry/Physics.
- Exposure to EdTech, adaptive learning, or instructional design workflows.
- Working knowledge of JSON / structured data formats for LOM output.
- Experience covering all three sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics) is a significant advantage.
