This role reports to the CEO and partners closely with engineering and implementation. You’ll have autonomy to run with what you know—while aligning to a clear roadmap and priorities set with the CEO.

What You’ll Do

• Productize the insurance funnel: turn “lab” flows into reusable modules (lead capture → quote indication → underwriting qualification → bind/pay → post-bind service).
• Underwriting & compliance control plane: design the “silent reviewer / manager agent” pattern and define where it gates flows (pre-quote, pre-bind, pre-pay), with audit-friendly outputs (what rule fired, what data was missing, why it stopped, who overrode).
• Define what’s configurable vs fixed: create a clean customer control surface (guardrails/rules vs prompt vs workflow code), with safe defaults and explicit override paths.
• Own the hybrid UX strategy: decide when conversational AI is best vs when structured UI (buttons/forms) wins for speed, accuracy, and conversion—then standardize the pattern.
• Build trust through measurement: ship a minimal analytics + evaluation layer customers actually use (handoff rates, deflection/assist, conversion, underwriting stops, response quality, auditability).
• Codify insurance primitives: eligibility, appetite, exclusions, referral rules, documentation requirements, bind authority, audit trail—implemented as product defaults and reusable components.
• Make integrations shippable: define how agents read/write to AMS/PAS/portals and how we handle the reality of partial APIs, messy data, and human checkpoints.
• Make the team faster: act as the internal reference point for insurance truth so engineers and implementers don’t relearn the same lessons per customer.
• Partner with customers: join key calls to extract requirements and turn them into templates the platform can repeat.

Who We’re Looking For (Must-Haves)

• Deep insurance experience in underwriting/product/distribution operations (carrier, MGA, wholesaler, or agency/brokerage). You understand appetite, eligibility, referral logic, bind authority, and compliance realities.
• You’ve shipped underwriting logic in software: you’ve owned or delivered underwriting rules/appetite/referral workflows as working systems—not just decks.
• Proven productization ability: you can turn messy, bespoke workflows into repeatable modules with clear tradeoffs and defaults.
• GenAI-native judgment: you believe GenAI changes the interface layer—and you know when structured UI beats chat.
• Wartime operator: you ship in weeks, stay close to the data (logs, transcripts, edge cases), and make hard tradeoffs without sacrificing underwriting rigor.
• Clear communication: you can explain complex insurance logic to engineers and make crisp decisions.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience with digital distribution or embedded insurance flows.
• Familiarity with LLM-era patterns (retrieval/tool-calling, human-in-the-loop, evals, prompt/guardrail design).
• Experience with AMS/PAS, broker portals, policy servicing workflows.
