Synthium is building the data engine for Embodied AI.
We capture human cognition through interactive simulations and transform multimodal behavior into structured datasets used to train next-generation robotics foundation models.
We are looking for a Head of Embodied AI & Simulation Engineering to drive the technical direction of our simulation, embodiment, and data generation stack.
The Role
• Own and lead the robotics simulation architecture powering Synthium’s data engine
• Work directly with the founders and research partners to design systems bridging simulation, teleoperation, embodiment, and large-scale dataset generation
• Set technical direction, make key architectural decisions, and build the foundations of the robotics engineering team
What You’ll Own
• Define and evolve the simulation stack across Isaac Sim / Isaac Lab and MuJoCo
• Architect cloud-scalable pipelines for large-scale multimodal dataset generation
• Design human-in-the-loop and teleoperation systems for data capture
• Own the dataset lifecycle for imitation learning and reinforcement learning workflows
• Drive technical decisions across control, perception, policy learning, and evaluation
• Establish best practices in simulation fidelity, reproducibility, and AI-robotics systems design
• Hire, mentor, and shape the robotics engineering team
What We’re Looking For
• 6+ years in robotics, simulation, or embodied systems
• Strong understanding of modern robotics foundation models, world models, or VLM/VLA systems
• Deep Python expertise with a production mindset
• Experience with robotics simulation environments (Isaac, MuJoCo, etc.)
• Experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow
• Proven ability to lead projects or technical teams
• Comfortable operating in ambiguity and shaping early-stage systems
Nice to Have
• Comfortable working across disciplines: 3D graphics, ML systems, data pipelines, and cloud infrastructure
• Experience with humanoid robotics
• ROS2 experience
• Experience with teleoperation systems
