We are seeking a dynamic, strategic, and results-driven
Business Development Head – Engineering Services
to lead and expand our Engineering Services business across India. The ideal candidate will be responsible for driving revenue growth, developing strategic customer relationships, leading the business development team, and expanding the company's market presence. This role requires a strong engineering background, excellent sales acumen, and the ability to engage with senior stakeholders across diverse industries.
Requirements
Business Development & Sales
- Develop and execute business development strategies to grow the Engineering Services business across India.
- Identify and generate new business opportunities through lead generation, market research, networking, and customer engagement.
- Map large existing customers and identify opportunities for Engineering Services engagements.
- Manage the complete sales cycle, including prospecting, opportunity qualification, proposal development, negotiation, and deal closure.
- Achieve assigned revenue targets and drive sustainable business growth.
- Develop and maintain accurate sales forecasts, business plans, and pipeline reports.
- Promote the company's Engineering Services portfolio and identify opportunities for cross-selling and upselling.
Customer Engagement & Relationship Management
- Build, maintain, and strengthen relationships with key customers, strategic accounts, and industry stakeholders.
- Engage with CXO-level executives, engineering leaders, and decision-makers to understand business and technical requirements.
- Conduct customer meetings, presentations, technical discussions, and solution demonstrations.
- Develop long-term customer engagement strategies to enhance customer satisfaction, retention, and account growth.
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through proactive engagement and effective solution delivery.
Technical & Consulting Support
- Work closely with customers across various industries to understand their CAE and engineering project requirements.
- Collaborate with technical and project teams to develop customized engineering solutions.
- Assist customers in planning and executing engineering projects based on available resources and project objectives.
- Effectively position and communicate the value proposition of the company's Engineering Services offerings.
- Translate customer requirements into actionable business opportunities and project engagements.
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and manage the Engineering Services Business Development team to achieve organizational goals and revenue targets.
- Establish clear sales objectives, performance metrics, and growth plans for team members.
- Monitor team performance and provide regular coaching, guidance, and feedback.
- Foster a collaborative, customer-centric, and high-performance work culture.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, training, and development of business development professionals.
- Guide the team in account planning, opportunity management, customer engagement, and sales execution.
- Ensure effective collaboration between sales, engineering, marketing, and project delivery teams.
Strategic Growth & Market Expansion
- Identify new market opportunities, industry segments, and strategic partnerships to expand the Engineering Services business.
- Analyze market trends, customer requirements, and competitor activities to support business planning.
- Develop and execute go-to-market strategies for Engineering Services offerings.
- Work closely with senior management to define and implement growth initiatives and business objectives.
- Represent the organization at industry events, conferences, customer forums, and networking engagements.
Sales Operations & Coordination
- Coordinate with technical support teams, project managers, and leadership teams to develop winning strategies for opportunities.
- Prepare commercial proposals and negotiate contractual terms and conditions.
- Conduct regular follow-ups to ensure timely closure of opportunities.
- Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, opportunities, and sales activities through CRM systems.
- Provide regular management updates on business performance, pipeline status, and market developments.
Experience
- 10–15+ years of experience in Engineering Services, CAE, CAD, Simulation, Product Development, or related industries.
- Proven track record of achieving and exceeding revenue targets.
- Experience in leading and managing high-performing business development or sales teams.
- Experience engaging with enterprise customers and CXO-level stakeholders.
Preferred Attributes
- Experience working with Engineering Services, CAE/Simulation, Product Development, or Digital Engineering organizations.
- Strong network within Automotive, Aerospace, Industrial Equipment, Manufacturing, Energy, Defense, Railways, or related sectors.
- Proven ability to build and scale business development teams.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with strong business acumen.
- Willingness to travel extensively across India for customer meetings, technical discussions, and business development activities.
