The Waymo Driver powers Waymo One, a fully autonomous ride-hailing service, and can also be applied to a range of vehicle platforms and product use cases. The Waymo Driver has provided over one million rider-only trips, enabled by its experience autonomously driving tens of millions of miles on public roads and tens of billions in simulation across 13+ U.S. states. Waymo’s Product Management Team is a mission-driven team responsible for writing and enacting first-of-their-kind playbooks to bring fully autonomous driving technology to market. Our team develops simple solutions for complex problems by orchestrating cross-functional efforts to safely drive Waymo’s technology and the products it enables forward. We do this by understanding the customer, the business, and the technology. We are humble about the scope of our work, collaborative in our approach to problem-solving, and ambitious about our vision for the future. In this role, you will report to a Director of Product Management You Will - Accelerate the development cycle of building, training, and hillclimbing on ML/AI models - Ship software improvements that streamline the flow of data through acquisition, training and evaluation pipelines - Eliminate or streamline manual processes required to identify, account for, and exploit or manage exceptions in data or data pipelines - Ensure that one of Waymo’s most valuable assets--its driving data--is fully exploited in the development and continuous, automated improvement of our onboard and offboard driving systems - Evaluate tradeoffs and manage negotiations and intake of different data sources internal and external to Waymo, including: Driving Logs, Synthetic Data and 3rd Party Data You Have - 5 years PM experience - Experience balancing priorities across a complex set of priorities and engineering teams - Experience working on AV, Robotics, or products that utilize Machine Learning or AI - Technical fluency in Perception or related field - Familiarity / facility with data infrastructure and data infrastructure concepts - Facility with statistical power of data including signal/noise ratios, Kalman filters and similar concepts, and data sufficiency We Prefer - Development and deployment of ML/AI models, including training pipelines - Data management including sourcing, mining, labeling, storing, garbage collecting - Understanding or experience with foundation models and model distillation - Facility with developer efficiency concepts and practices, having been involved with, worked on, or led initiatives to automate aspects of the development process Travel Requirements - Ability to occasionally travel domestically is highly desirable but not a requirement The expected base salary range for this full-time position across US locations is listed below. Actual starting pay will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level. Waymo employees are also eligible to participate in Waymo’s discretionary annual bonus program, equity incentive plan, and generous Company benefits program, subject to eligibility requirements.
