D. E. Shaw Research (DESRES) is a scientific research company that utilizes paradigm-shifting computational technologies to reshape the drug discovery process. They develop specialized supercomputers, notably the Anton series, which execute molecular dynamics (MD) simulations at speeds significantly exceeding general-purpose supercomputers. These simulations provide an ultra-high-resolution view of biological molecule interactions, revealing phenomena previously unseen. DESRES also employs machine learning and other advanced methodologies to identify new therapeutic strategies and design targeted drugs. Their efforts have led to seven clinical-stage drugs, three developed independently and four in collaboration with Relay Therapeutics. The company focuses on elucidating molecular mechanisms of diseases, identifying new drug targets, and creating novel therapeutics for conditions such as chronic inflammatory, autoimmune, respiratory, and oncological diseases.

D. E. Shaw Research (DESRES) is seeking exceptionally accomplished individuals for a role as a generalist assistant supporting members of our executive committee. The ideal candidate will be articulate, proactive, and highly resourceful, with a proven ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and solve problems effectively. Responsibilities may include providing general administrative assistance, scheduling and event coordination, expense reporting, travel coordination, and conducting ad hoc research projects. Experience or an educational background in technology and/or the pharmaceutical field is a plus.
DESRES, based in New York City, develops and uses advanced computational technologies to understand the behavior of biologically and pharmaceutically significant molecules at an atomic level of detail, and to design precisely targeted, highly selective drugs for the treatment of various diseases. Among its core technologies is Anton, a proprietary special-purpose supercomputer that DESRES designed and constructed to vastly accelerate the process of molecular dynamics simulation. DESRES uses Anton machines and high-speed commodity hardware, together with machine learning methods and other computational techniques, in both internal and collaborative drug discovery programs.
