About The Role We are seeking an experienced and highly adaptable Forward-Deployed Engineer to join our dynamic team at Foxglove. This role is ideally suited for a product-minded full-stack engineer who excels in customer-facing environments and enjoys tackling complex technical challenges within robotics and observability domains. As a Forward-Deployed Engineer, you will work directly with strategic customers to integrate and extend Foxglove’s platform within their operational environments. Your responsibilities will include collaborating closely with client teams to understand their unique needs, designing tailored solutions, and deploying our tools on their cloud or on-premises infrastructure. Additionally, you will contribute upstream to our core products by providing valuable feedback from real-world use cases. This position offers a unique blend of hands-on development, creative problem-solving, and close partnership with customer teams, ensuring seamless integration and optimal performance of our solutions. Your efforts will directly impact the success of our customers’ robotic deployments and help shape the future of our product offerings.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience in JavaScript/TypeScript development
• 3+ years of professional experience in Robotics or Autonomous systems
• Experience in customer-facing engineering roles, ideally with robotics or autonomy exposure
• Proven track record of rapid prototyping and iterative delivery with external stakeholders
• Strong front-end skills in React/TypeScript and back-end experience in Node.js or Python

Bonus points include experience with multiple database systems and designing SDKs, integration libraries, or internal tooling that enhance service efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Embed deeply with customer teams to understand their business goals, domain constraints, and technical requirements
• Architect and build end-to-end solutions using an experiment-driven, iterative approach (TypeScript/React, Node.js, Python, ROS, SQL)
• Draft clear scopes of work, timelines, and success metrics for proofs-of-concept and production deployments
• Code alongside customer engineers to deploy solutions on their cloud or on-prem environments, ensuring successful adoption
• Partner closely with Sales and Customer Success teams to deliver seamless customer experiences and measurable outcomes
• Relay frontline insights to Research, Product, and Engineering teams to inform product development and improvements
• Document best practices, contribute to internal libraries, and mentor future Forward-Deployed Engineers to scale the function efficiently
