Project Overview
This role sits at the core of the organisation’s Risk Strategy, providing Line 2 oversight, challenge, and support across IT operations and strategic change initiatives. The Technology Risk Specialist ensures technology activities remain within risk appetite and comply with legal, regulatory, and ethical requirements, helping protect the organisation from internal and external technology risks.
Key Objectives
- Provide independent Line 2 challenge on technology risk decisions
- Support safe delivery of technology change within risk appetite
- Strengthen technology risk governance and controls
Key Responsibilities
- Advise on IT risk and compliance for key technology and transformation projects
- Review, challenge, and validate technology risk assessments and control effectiveness
- Support governance forums and technology risk reporting
- Review Line 1 RCSAs and policy compliance assessments
- Provide guidance on incident, security, and emerging technology risks
- Support improvements to IT risk policies, processes, and GRC tooling
Key Skills & Experience
- Strong knowledge and experience of technology and IT risk, including risks associated with change, transformation, and complex platforms
- Solid understanding of IT risk governance, risk management, and risk response frameworks
- Experience operating in a regulated environment; financial services experience is desirable
- Ability to work effectively in organisations undergoing continuous change and growth
- Demonstrable experience working with Audit, Risk, Change, and Technology teams
- Knowledge of relevant regulations, legislation, and industry best practices
- Relevant IT, risk, or governance qualifications, or equivalent professional experience
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently, objectively, and with integrity
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
