An Field Applications Engineer will lead client-facing integration projects from conception through completion. This role requires someone who can independently manage projects holistically—taking ownership of design, procurement, installation, and ongoing support for bespoke integration solutions. You will be the technical point person ensuring Cordel sensors are successfully integrated and operated in diverse railway vehicle platforms.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Project Management & Client Engagement
- Lead end-to-end integration projects, serving as the primary technical contact for clients as they integrate sensors to their systems
- Provide input into sales proposals for project cost estimates used for quoting
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and deliverables independently
- Identify and mitigate project risks proactively
- Design & Engineering
- Design bespoke integration components tailored to specific vehicle platforms and client requirements
- Utilize CAD software to create integration designs and technical documentation
- Collaborate with hardware engineering teams to ensure design feasibility and manufacturability
- Ensure all integration designs and installations comply with relevant railway industry standards, regulations, and safety requirements
- Validate client designs
- Procurement & Inventory Management
- Oversee procurement of integration materials, leveraging both independent sourcing and internal procurement teams
- Maintain accurate stock listings and inventory documentation
- Installation & Support
- Lead on-site installations at client locations, ensuring successful project execution
- Provide technical support and guidance to clients and internal teams regarding integration, installation and general product support
- Troubleshoot product and integration issues
- Testing & Documentation
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to test and validate integration designs
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for all integration designs, installations, and maintenance activities
- Stay current with industry trends and incorporate best practices into system engineering processes
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in related discipline (Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering etc)
Experience
- Previous experience in systems integration, mechanical design, or project engineering (preferred but not essential for exceptional candidates)
- Experience working directly with clients on technical projects is highly valued
- Railway Experience is highly desirable
