Blum Biologicals is building Africa’s next-generation biopesticide innovation platform. We combine insect biology, microbial biotechnology, and AI-driven bioassays to create sustainable crop protection solutions specifically tailored for African agriculture. We are currently expanding our Bioassay Laboratory and are seeking an experienced Entomologist with strong insect rearing and bioassay capabilities to join our R&D team.
What You’ll Do
Maintain and scale colonies of key agricultural insect pests.
Design and conduct insect bioassays (including feeding, topical, spray, and behavioural assays).
Generate high-quality datasets to support AI-based mortality scoring.
Collaborate closely with microbiologists, biochemists, and our AI/ML developers.
Develop a world-class bioassay capability for biological discovery.
What We’re Looking For
Master’s degree in Entomology (or a related field).
2–5+ years of experience in insect rearing and bioassay procedures.
Strong skills in experimental design, documentation, and practical insect handling.
An interest in AI-enhanced analytics or high-throughput screening is a distinct advantage.
Salary
The final package will be commensurate with experience. Higher offers are possible for candidates with advanced insect-rearing expertise, experience in colony-scale management, or strong assay design capabilities.
