About the role

We’re looking for an exceptional Engineering Manager (EM) to join Definely during a pivotal stage of growth. You’ll oversee engineers building add-ins, web applications, and early-stage products outside the scope of our Draft/Proof, PDF, Vault, and AI lines.

You’ll also partner with Product and Design to prioritise across technical debt, cross-team implementations, and roadmap delivery. You’ll serve as the direct report to the CTO, helping streamline communication and ensuring teams stay aligned while creating an environment where engineers can grow and innovate.

What you'll do:

Team Leadership & Growth

• Hire, manage, and mentor engineers for the OfficeJS Platform
• Build a strong engineering culture that values collaboration, innovation, and quality.

Product Delivery & Innovation

• Drive execution for OfficeJS, web, and new product initiatives.
• Work closely with Product Managers and Design team members to iterate rapidly and validate ideas.
• Balance experimentation with delivery of robust, production-ready SaaS solutions.

Engineering Practices

• Champion frontend and full-stack best practices.
• Ensure high code quality, test coverage, and secure-by-default development.
• Align architecture across web and add-in products for consistency and scalability.

What you'll bring:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Experience leading teams in SaaS.
• Strong technical grounding in JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Office.js, and API design.
• Skilled at managing multiple teams and workstreams simultaneously.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Office Add-Ins and the M365 ecosystem.
• Experience with C# and the .NET ecosystem.
• Background in 0 1 product development.
• Exposure to AI-assisted product experiences.
