About the role

Definely is at a pivotal scale-up stage, and we’re looking for an outstanding Engineering Manager to lead the teams building our Draft/Proof and PDF products. These features power how leading legal teams draft, review, and finalise documents directly within Microsoft Word, core workflows our customers rely on every day.

This is a hybrid leadership role: you’ll manage and grow high-performing engineers while driving delivery of reliable, performant, and secure features. You’ll work closely with Product and Design to translate customer needs into elegant technical solutions, ensuring our products delight users while scaling for enterprise adoption.

What you'll do:

Team Leadership & Growth

• Manage, coach, and develop engineers through 1:1s, feedback, and career planning.
• Build and nurture a high-performing, collaborative engineering culture.

Product Delivery

• Drive execution of Draft/Proof and PDF product roadmaps.
• Ensure features meet quality, reliability, and security standards.
• Partner with Product and Design to align technical execution with user needs.

Engineering Excellence

• Embed best practices in testing, code quality, CI/CD, and observability.
• Collaborate with platform and security teams to ensure compliance with ISO 27001/SOC 2.

What you'll bring:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Prior experience as a Tech Lead or Engineering Manager.
• Familiarity with document processing and integrations.
• Proven ability to balance delivery with long-term technical health.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Office.js add-ins.
• Exposure to AI-assisted drafting or review tools.
• Strong technical background in .NET, Node.js, or similar.
