Our Asset Monitoring Platform (AMP) provides real-time insights into the condition of networks through IoT technology. This enables our clients to monitor their assets more efficiently, resolve faults faster, and plan maintenance more effectively.

Our Teleport team focuses on increasing flexibility in the electricity grid. With our Teleport Gateway , owners of renewable energy sources and batteries can smartly control their assets and better respond to fluctuations in supply and demand. This helps both grid operators and energy producers accelerate the energy transition.

Your position as Energy Systems Software Engineer As an Energy Systems Software Engineer at Withthegrid, you'll play an important role in shaping the foundation of our platform and driving its continued success. You’ll be at the forefront of enhancing our Teleport offering; whether that means integrating new protocols into the Teleport gateway, onboarding new customers, or building custom local logic to meet their needs.

Collaboration will be a key aspect of your role. You’ll collaborate closely with our commercial team, head of operations, and fellow engineers. This cross-functional setting gives you the chance to flex your problem-solving muscles, bring your ideas to life, and contribute directly to accelerating the energy transition.

What You’ll Do

• Bring energy assets to life. You'll add new protocols (in TypeScript) to the Teleport asset library, diving into the inner workings of solar inverters, batteries, and wind turbines. By making them controllable through Teleport, you'll unlock grid flexibility that wasn’t previously possible.
• Build smart local logic. When multiple assets are connected, you’ll help develop intelligent local control strategies. For example, what should a solar inverter do when the grid is full? You’ll help design the logic that makes those decisions.
• Be the technical bridge for our customers. You’ll support both new and existing customers during onboarding, translating their needs into practical solutions and helping them get the most out of Teleport.

Who We’re Looking For

• Technically curious. You have JavaScript or TypeScript skills or can program in another C-style language. You are eager to dive into new technologies and stay up to date.
• Proactive & independent. You take initiative, thrive in dynamic environments, and enjoy turning ambiguity into action.
• Customer-focused. You’re motivated to understand user challenges and translate them into smart, scalable solutions for the Teleport platform.
• Business-aware. You can spot opportunities, align solutions with real-world needs, and communicate their value. Knowledge of the energy sector is a strong plus.
• Great communicator. You’re confident in both written and spoken English (Dutch is a bonus), and comfortable working across teams and with customers.

Our office is in Utrecht, but we offer flexibility for remote work. Mondays and Wednesdays are our regular office days, but you're welcome at our office any day.
