The company has developed a groundbreaking Machine Learning Test for Migraine with 93% accuracy in diagnosing migraine with aura. With a mission to improve the lives of over one billion migraine sufferers worldwide, Headache Sciences Inc. aims to create commercial machine learning-based diagnostic and monitoring services for migraines and other headache disorders. The innovative approach includes automated EEG testing, allowing for various diagnostic and monitoring applications.

Role Description

We are a small Toronto-based startup building a research-grade LED photic stimulator used in neuroscience / EEG experiments. This is a hardware prototype assembly and validation role , not a schematic design role. You will assemble, wire, and test a single-channel LED stimulator based on a completed engineering build packet.

Scope of Work

Assemble electronics from supplied BOM and build packet
Mount high-power LED to heatsink with thermal compound
Panel-mount BNC, DC jack, and connectors in enclosure
Wire opto-isolated TTL trigger input
Bring up Teensy 4.0 microcontroller
Verify PWM output and trigger timing using oscilloscope
Perform basic functional validation (latency, stability)
Document build with photos and test notes

Required Skills

Electronics assembly (through-hole + light SMD)
Microcontroller bring-up (Teensy / Arduino class)
Oscilloscope and multimeter use
LED driver and constant-current systems
Careful grounding and isolation practices
Ability to follow engineering documentation precisely
Relevant certifications preferred

Nice to Have

Scientific / lab instrumentation experience
EEG, optics, or neuroscience hardware exposure
Experience with LED thermal management
Located in Toronto or GTA (required)

Deliverables

Fully assembled working prototype
Test screenshots (PWM, trigger timing)
Build photos and wiring notes
Brief validation checklist completed

Engagement

Short-term contract (1–2 weeks equivalent effort)
Hourly or fixed price (please propose)
Potential for follow-on work (multi-wavelength expansion)
