Company Description
Purna AI is building the intelligence layer for modern biology. Our Molecular Intelligence Platform (MIP) is an AI-native platform that helps researchers, clinicians, and biologists go from raw molecular data to evidence-backed insights, fast. Think of it as the IDE for biology: a unified environment where complex biological datasets get interpreted, analyzed, and acted upon with precision.
We're building the platform that powers the next generation of biological discovery and clinical decision-making, starting with genomics and expanding across the full molecular stack.
Our team brings together physicians, geneticists, bioinformaticians, and engineers obsessed with one question: what happens when cutting-edge AI meets the complexity of human biology?
Role Description — Director of Bioinformatics
Let's be upfront: this is not a regular job.
We're looking for someone who thinks like a co-founder, moves like a founder, and wants to build something that actually matters. You'll be leading the bioinformatics function at Purna, designing the analytical backbone of MIP, shaping how the platform interprets molecular data, and working directly with our founding team to push the science forward.
This is a founder-track role . That means founding equity. That means your fingerprints on the architecture of something that could reshape how biology is understood and applied at scale. If you want a comfortable role with a clear job description and quarterly reviews, this isn't it. If you want to co-build a category-defining platform from the ground up, keep reading.
What you'll do:
Who You Are
You have a Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genetics, or a related field, but more importantly, you have the itch to build. You've worked with large-scale genomic or molecular datasets in a translational or clinical context, you understand the full stack from raw sequencing data to biological meaning, and you know how to lead cross-functional teams without losing the plot.
