blueOASIS is a young and growing company focusing on developing sustainable solutions for ocean protection. blueOASIS is working on four scopes: numerical analysis for offshore renewables and ships, underwater acoustics, smart ocean modelling and sensorization, and digital twinning. We are also developing a disruptive Ocean Digital Twin platform: www.hydrotwin.ai. Our team is now looking for a specialist in oceanographic modelling / digital twin of the ocean to strengten our digital twinning capacity.
Role description
Offshore engineer / DTO specialist with with a strong interest in oceanographic modelling, ocean sensorization, digitalization and data-driven approaches. The role will focus on the development and implementation of DTO frameworks, combining ocean modelling, data integration, and data management practices. Close interaction with R&D and our product team is expected, balancing both EU-funded research projects and the evolution of our internal digital twin platform.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the development and implementation of
Digital Twin of the Ocean components, including data ingestion, model integration, and digital workflows
- Collaborate with the internal product team on the development and testing of the hydrotwin platform
- Oversee data management and stewardship activities (FAIR, data harmonization/QA, Data Management Plans)
- Support long term technical research on these fields, leading to scientific conference publications and building the internal knowledge at blueOASIS
Expertise needed
- Background in ocean or offshore engineering, oceanography, environmental engineering, data science, or related field.
- Very good knowledge of at least one of the following: oceanographic modelling; ocean sensorization; data driven models; digital twinning.
- Experience working with
e
nvironmental or ocean-related datasets, either real or synthetic.
- Experience with Reef3D, Mohid, Delft3D, Swan, Swash, WRF or similar.
- Experience with AI-based surrogate modelling.
- Proficient in python and comfortable with data processing.
Added value (these skills are a plus, not required)
- Experience/knowledge in DTOs
- Experience/knowledge in data-driven models
- Familiarity with EU-funded research projects (e.g. Horizon Europe)
- Familiariy with EDITO and other european DTO iniciatives
- Knowledge of data standards commonly used in marine sciences.
- Experience with geospatial data (NetCDF, GIS tools, remote sensing)
