2D Photonics is a company that designs, develops, and manufactures next-generation photonic circuits for telecom and datacom applications. Their technology integrates graphene into photonics to create ultra-high bandwidth, low latency optical interconnects that reduce cost and energy consumption, particularly for generative AI, cellular, and strategic data transfer. Their solutions offer high bandwidth density, wavelength independence across O, C, and L bands, low power consumption with uncooled operation, and compatibility with silicon foundry manufacturing processes. This positions them as a scalable, high-performance provider of energy-efficient optical transceiver solutions addressing the growing demand for data traffic in AI, data centers, and mobile communications.

Digital IC Design Engineer - Bergamo
Base up to €90,000 dependent on experience
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for a Digital Design Engineer to develop and verify complex digital subsystems for an advanced Electronic Integrated Circuit (EIC) enabling next-generation optical I/O. The ideal candidate is comfortable working with licensed and in-house IP, collaborates efectively with mixed-signal and system teams, and enjoys building robust, silicon-ready digital logic in a high-performance environment.
What will you be doing?
• Design, implement, and verify digital logic for an EIC supporting advanced optical I/O
applications
• Integrate licensed IP blocks (e.g. UCIe, RISC-V) with proprietary digital subsystems
• Develop control, confguration, calibration, self-test, and diagnostic logic for high-speed
SerDes and mixed-signal blocks
• Write and maintain RTL (SystemVerilog / Verilog) and associated testbenches
• Perform functional verifcation, simulation, and debug using Cadence EDA tools
• Collaborate closely with analog, SerDes, frmware, and system architects to defne
interfaces and requirements
• Support synthesis, timing closure, and design sign-of activities
• Contribute to documentation, design reviews, and continuous improvement of digital design
methodologies
What we need to see?
• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related feld
• Experience in digital IC design and verifcation for complex SoCs or mixed-signal ICs
• Strong RTL design skills in Verilog or SystemVerilog
• Experience integrating third-party IP (e.g. processor cores, interconnects, or standard
interfaces)
• Familiarity with control and monitoring logic for high-speed interfaces (SerDes, calibration,
BIST, diagnostics)
• Hands-on experience with Cadence EDA tools for simulation, synthesis, and verifcation
• Solid understanding of digital design fundamentals (clocking, resets, CDC, low-power
concepts)
• Ability to work efectively in cross-functional teams and communicate clearly across
disciplines
