Design Technical Competency Lead

Purpose of role

To define and lead engineering methodologies and technical strategies that drive innovation, efficiency, and alignment with industry standards. This role ensures scalable, standardized processes and provides expert consultation to support successful project delivery.

Responsibilities

• Define and implement technical strategies and methodologies across the organization.
• Displaying a customer focused approach by demonstrating clear and competent communication, issue resolution & delivery to expectations and sharing this approach with the team.
• Promote innovation through scalable, standardized engineering processes and tools.
• Identify best practice by networking widely and extensively with EDA and IP companies and their users in other companies as applicable to our ASIC projects.
• Ensure suitable design methodologies and flows are available, clearly documented and with suitable training provided for all project phases. Where required define R&D work packages for execution in R&D team.
• Collate feedback from Project Leads, Technical Leads and regional experts to identify areas for improvement.
• Collaborate with external partners to integrate cutting-edge methodologies and IPs.
• Should be able to contributes to technical white papers and present at internal and external conferences and will contribute to sales support as part of a team.
• Provide expert consultation and governance across customer projects.
• Act as a subject matter expert, supporting peer reviews and resolving complex technical issues.
• Ensure alignment between project execution and overarching technical strategy.

Qualifications

A relevant Engineering degree.

Technical Skills

• Typically, 10+ years’ experience in the semiconductor industry
• A technical guru in the field of RTL design and associated front-end methodologies
• Understanding of RTL optimization and "shift-left" concepts
• Experience of all design-check tool types including:
• Lint, CDC, RDC, LEC, SDC checks, DFT design checks
• Deep awareness of data integrity, including database management, SCM tools and audit trails

• Algorithmic approaches to design automation/quality improvement, including AI tools

• QMS concepts and integration with technical project methodology
