The Role

As a Data & Knowledge Engineer in the ATLAS AI Co-Innovation team, you will transform raw industrial data into structured, connected, and semantically rich formats that power next-generation AI workflows. Your work enables intelligent agents, search capabilities, and reasoning systems by providing the underlying data infrastructure needed for them to operate effectively. You’ll collaborate closely with AI engineers, solution engineers, and product teams to shape how data is prepared, modeled, and surfaced across time series, events, asset hierarchies, and knowledge graphs. Whether you're building contextualized time series pipelines or defining schemas and relationships for semantic understanding, you play a foundational role in delivering AI value in industrial settings.

This role demands strong data modeling expertise, familiarity with industrial data, and a mindset focused on structure, quality, and interoperability.

Responsibilities:

Data Preparation & Integration Process and structure data from CDF and external sources, enabling its use in AI workflows and prototypes.
Contextualization & Enrichment Apply asset models, event logic, and semantic layers to transform raw data into actionable insights.

What we're looking for+ (must have skills):

3+ years of experience working with industrial data and/or semantic data systems.
Experience working with Cognite Data Fusion.
Experience with semantic modeling, including ontology/schema design and linking structured data across sources.
Familiarity with graph databases and semantic search tools (e.g. RDF, SPARQL, etc.).
Ability to bridge domain-specific industrial knowledge with modern data and AI requirements.
Proven ability to write clean, maintainable, and scalable code, following engineering best practices for testing, version control, and review.
A maker mindset with bias toward rapid iteration, showing rather than telling, and learning by doing.

Bonus skills:

Knowledge of industry domain and data standards.
Strong understanding of time series data modeling, contextualization, and event correlation.
Experience with anomaly detection, signal quality processing, or temporal pattern recognition.
Exposure to GenAI use cases involving contextual grounding, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), or semantic search.
Familiarity with metadata management, lineage tracking, or data catalogs.
