Controller (NetSuite Implementation Lead)

Our client is an emerging renewable energy company building next-generation equipment and infrastructure solutions. After successfully proving its business model in 2024–2025, the company is now entering a major growth phase and is building the financial and operational infrastructure needed to scale.

They are seeking a Controller to lead accounting operations and implement NetSuite, playing a critical role in professionalizing the finance function as the company expands. This is a high-visibility role reporting directly to the CFO with regular exposure to the CEO, offering the opportunity to build the controllership function from the ground up within a fast-growing clean energy organization.

The Opportunity

This position is ideal for a hands-on Controller who enjoys building systems, implementing ERP platforms, and establishing scalable accounting processes.

The company operates within a complex multi-entity structure supporting functions such as:

• Channel partner sales networks
• Captive lending programs
• Global procurement
• Inventory management
• Manufacturing and assembly operations
• Installation operations
• Real estate development
• Billing and collections Startup Controller (2)

The Controller will help bring structure and operational excellence to these financial workflows.

Key Responsibilities

NetSuite Implementation & Financial Systems

• Lead the implementation and configuration of NetSuite ERP
• Design the chart of accounts, workflows, and reporting architecture
• Establish scalable financial systems and automation
• Serve as the internal NetSuite subject matter expert

Accounting Operations

• Build and oversee best-in-class accounting processes
• Manage the record-to-report cycle
• Oversee procure-to-pay operations
• Manage month-end close and financial reporting
• Implement accounting policies and internal controls
• Support the transition to accrual accounting

Finance Leadership

• Oversee cash management
• Manage and develop a small accounting team (2+)
• Partner with the CFO to implement a budgeting and planning process
• Help professionalize financial operations as the company scales

Qualifications

• CPA or MBA strongly preferred
• 2+ years experience as a Controller
• 3–5 years of industry accounting experience
• 2 years in public accounting audit preferred
• Experience leading ERP or NetSuite implementations
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP and accounting operations
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Entrepreneurial mindset with a bias for action
