Cloud Services Lead
Our client, a global manufacturer, is delivering a large-scale, multi-region cloud transformation, and the first wave of transformed applications is approaching production. A successful release depends on the operational foundations being ready to support it: a service desk aligned to the new cloud operating model, ITIL processes that are live and effective, and a ServiceNow platform configured for the cloud environment. We are seeking a Cloud Services Lead to ensure those foundations are in place.
This is not a greenfield build. Existing service integration standards have been established, the program is underway, and much of the groundwork has commenced. The role calls for someone who can take that work forward, evolve it to the new ways of working, and bring it to a fit-for-purpose standard within the timeframe the first release demands.
We are looking for another to join us on this.
Initial 6+6 month contract, with scope to extend subject to program needs.
Embedded with our client and supported as part of the Myndful team. Hybrid, Sydney preferred.
Proven experience standing up and hardening cloud service management for enterprise-scale Azure environments.
About The Role
As Cloud Services Lead, you own the operational readiness of a global, multi-region Azure cloud platform. You will work across the program, the platform engineering team, regional IT leads, delivery and managed service partners to get the service management foundations to the standard the first production release demands, then keep maturing them from there.
You will report to the Cloud Program Owner, a fellow Myndful team member you will work alongside closely. While the role is embedded with the client, you remain part of the Myndful team throughout, with access to our people, expertise, and resources behind you. You will also have an initial CloudOps engineering team reporting to you, whose work you will direct and prioritise against the readiness effort. The vision is for this team to scale over the next 12 months: as the cloud program delivers more applications and the demands on the function grow, you will build and shape the team around it.
The existing service desk needs to be evolved and hardened to the new cloud ways of working. The ITIL processes need to be operational. There is a strong focus on prioritisation: sequencing the capabilities so the immediate go-live need is met first, and the rest follows in a sensible order. You will be working to a defined timeline, and you will keep the work focused on it.
What You Will Be Doing
Evolving and hardening the existing service desk into a capability that supports global cloud platform operations, including tiered support models and escalation paths across internal teams, Microsoft, and managed service partners.
Ideally You Will Have
Demonstrated experience establishing and hardening cloud service desk functions for enterprise-scale Azure environments, ideally across multiple regions.
Technologies You Will Be Using On Day 1
ServiceNow ITSM
MS Suite
Microsoft ADO
Getting ITIL-aligned processes live and fit for purpose: incident, problem, change, release, configuration, service request, and service level management, prioritised to support the first production release.
Validating the client's existing ServiceNow ITSM platform for cloud: CI classes, CMDB taxonomy for Azure resources, service catalog items, and cloud-native change and release workflows.
Defining and enforcing the production readiness criteria and operational acceptance gates that applications must clear before they go live.
Aligning the service management model with the existing SIAM framework and shared responsibility boundaries spanning the client, Microsoft, and partners.
Building the runbooks and knowledge base that enable L1 and L2 teams to support the platform from day one.
Leading the CloudOps engineering, directing and prioritising their work against the readiness milestones, and growing the team as the program scales over the coming year.
Owning the outcome. You will keep the operational readiness work moving and visible, and you will be the person stakeholders trust to tell them whether we are ready.
Staying calm and decisive under a real timeline. The pace is energising rather than frantic, but the dates are real, and you will help everyone stay focused on them.
A finisher's track record. You know what good looks like, you have delivered operational readiness to deadline before, and you can hit the ground running rather than designing from first principles.
A strong working knowledge of ITIL 4 practices and how to apply them to cloud-native and hybrid operating models at pace.
Hands-on ServiceNow ITSM experience, including CMDB design, service catalog configuration, and change and release workflows.
Familiarity with Azure platform services, monitoring toolsets such as Azure Monitor and Dynatrace, and infrastructure-as-code paradigms including Terraform.
Experience operating within SIAM or multi-vendor service integration frameworks.
Strong stakeholder management skills, comfortable operating across regional teams and external partners, with experience leading and growing small technical teams.
Experience in global or multi-region organisations, preferably in manufacturing or heavy industry.
Exposure to and understanding of Infrastructure-as-code tooling, observability tools such as Azure Monitor and Dynatrace
Familiarity with FinOps processes and cloud governance
