We are looking for a versatile
Cloud & Information Technology Manager based in Portugal
who can bridge technical expertise with management responsibilities in a fast-growing biotech startup.
Reporting directly to C-level, you will shape our cloud infrastructure strategy, drive hands-on system administration, and empower developers to work efficiently and securely.
This is a high-impact role at the core of our growth: you will scale our technology maturity and lead compliance initiatives such as ISO ***** certification, ensuring our innovations are built on a secure and reliable foundation.
Your responsibilities
Cloud & Infrastructure: Design, manage, and optimize AWS infrastructure for performance, cost efficiency, and security.
Implement monitoring, backups, and disaster recovery plans.
Developer enablement: Guide the development team with tools, automation, and best practices for CI/CD, deployments, and cloud-native solutions.
Governance & Compliance: Drive information security processes, enforce IT policies, and lead the implementation of information security processes and contribute to ISO ***** certification readiness.
Ensure compliance, documentation, and continuous improvement.
Strategy & Leadership: Collaborate with leadership to align technology with business goals.
Define the technical roadmap, coordinate with vendors, and mentor team members to strengthen capabilities.
What we are looking for
5+ years in the technology sector, with 2+ years hands-on in AWS architecture and administration.
Solid experience in Linux system administration.
Development background in modern frontend and backend frameworks.
Strong understanding of cloud security principles and regulatory compliance (ISO *****, SOC2, GDPR a plus).
Experience with DevOps practices.
Ability to balance hands-on problem solving with strategic thinking and cross-functional collaboration.
Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
Proactive attitude with mentoring capabilities.
Availability to travel occasionally to Barcelona for team meetings or company events.
Nice to have
Startup or scale-up experience.
Multi-cloud or hybrid environment knowledge.
Familiarity with risk management frameworks and IT governance.
Experience in scientific or bioinformatics projects.
Knowledge of bioinformatics stacks, e.g., workflow management systems like Nextflow.
