**The Climate risk financial model intern will support the Sustainable Finance team in quantifying the financial risks and opportunities associated with climate change. You will help translate complex climate data into actionable financial metrics, assisting the firm in assessing portfolio resilience against physical risks (e.g., extreme weather) and transition risks (e.g., carbon taxes, policy shifts).
Key Responsibilities
* Data Collection & Analysis: Aggregate and clean environmental data (GHG emissions, water stress, etc.) for companies to assess their climate vulnerability.
* Financial Modeling: Assist in developing and refining scenario analysis models (e.g., NGFS, IEA scenarios) to project potential losses or revenue impacts under different warming pathways.
* Reporting & Disclosure: Support the preparation of climate-related financial disclosures in alignment with frameworks like TCFD (Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures) and ISSB (International Sustainability Standards Board).
* Research: Conduct deep-dive research into emerging green taxonomies (like the EU Taxonomy) and climate physical and transitional mechanisms to understand their impact on asset valuations.
Required Qualifications & Skills
* Education: Currently pursuing or recently completed a Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Environmental Science, or Data Science.
* Technical Skills: * Advanced proficiency in financial modeling
* Experience with Python or R for data analysis is highly preferred.
* Familiarity with ESG data providers (e.g., MSCI, Sustainalytics, Bloomberg).
* Knowledge: Strong understanding of climate science basics and how they translate to financial risks (Physical vs. Transition risks).
* Communication: Ability to explain complex scientific data to non-technical financial stakeholders clearly and concisely.
