About the Project

Sepal is conducting a research initiative to capture real-world engineering judgment across civil infrastructure projects. We’re studying how experienced engineers navigate uncertainty, optimize complex systems, and make project-critical decisions under constraints.

Your insights will help define what great engineering looks like in practice and support efforts to build better tools and training for the next generation of AI products.

🔍 What You'll Do

• Share your engineering background and the systems or domains you specialize in
• Help design representative screening questions and practical scenarios
• Document past work—highlighting judgment calls, design tradeoffs, or regulatory coordination
• Review and give feedback on sample tasks or reasoning from other contributors (optional)

✅ Ideal Candidate

• 4+ years of full-time experience in civil or infrastructure engineering
• Experience in applied settings: consulting firms, government, construction, utilities, etc.
• Strong technical reasoning and comfort explaining your thought process
• Fluent in English, and located in the U.S.
• Proficient with standard digital tools (docs, spreadsheets, video calls)
• Able to follow detailed instructions and work independently
• Current employment is not required

💸 Compensation & Logistics

• $70–$160/hour , based on experience and specialty
• Bonuses available for especially useful or in-depth contributions
• 1099 contractor role; paid bi-weekly
• Fully remote and flexible—set your own hours
• Most work is asynchronous and project-based
