Chief Investment Officer

A leading London-based private investment firm is seeking a Chief Investment Officer to oversee its portfolio and lead the investment function across a growing international platform.

The firm partners with ambitious founders and management teams across service-led and professional services businesses, with a strong focus on value creation, operational scale, strategic partnerships, and long-term growth.

Reporting directly to the Chairman, the CIO will play a central role in shaping investment strategy, overseeing portfolio performance, supporting joint venture partnerships, and driving value creation initiatives across the group’s investments. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring a commercially minded investor equally comfortable in boardrooms, transaction environments, and founder-led growth businesses.

Key responsibilities:

• Leading portfolio oversight and value creation initiatives across the firm's investments

• Driving strategic growth, operational improvement, and commercial performance across portfolio companies

• Supporting portfolio businesses through scaling, acquisitions, transformation, and exit preparation

• Managing and developing a team of Investment Directors, Associates, and Analysts

• Leading engagement with founders, CEOs, and management teams across the portfolio

• Overseeing joint venture relationships and strategic partnership structures

• Reviewing board packs, attending board meetings, and driving governance standards

• Supporting sourcing, evaluation, and execution of new investment opportunities

• Contributing to investment committee discussions, diligence processes, and strategic decision-making

• Acting as a strategic adviser to the Chairman across investment, portfolio, and growth initiatives

What we're looking for:

• Significant private equity, growth equity, or principal investing experience at a senior level

• Strong financial background with deep understanding of corporate finance, deal structuring, valuation, and portfolio performance

• Strong track record in portfolio value creation and successful exits

• Experience managing founder-led and entrepreneurial businesses

• Demonstrable experience overseeing joint ventures, strategic partnerships, and portfolio governance

• Strong operational and commercial judgement alongside investment capability

• Experience leading and developing investment professionals

• Gravitas and relationship-building capability with founders, executives, investors, and advisers • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to operate effectively in a dynamic investment environment
