Job Description: Business Development Manager

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Business Development Manager to join our team. This role is based in Ahmedabad, India, and will play a pivotal part in expanding our contract manufacturing partnerships with Asian manufacturers. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in the pharmaceutical industry, with a focus on sourcing and managing value-added portfolios like injections for regulated markets. This position requires frequent travel to Asian countries including China and reports directly to the VP - R&D and Technology Transfer.
Key Responsibilities
•
Identify, evaluate, and onboard Asian contract manufacturers that hold USFDA approval and EU GMP certification, ensuring compliance for products targeted at the US, EU, UK, and Canada markets.
•
Develop and maintain strategic relationships with Asian manufacturers, negotiating contracts, pricing, and terms to optimize supply chain efficiency and cost-effectiveness, with a special emphasis on value-added portfolios such as injections.
•
Conduct market analysis and intelligence on Asian pharmaceutical manufacturing trends, regulatory changes, and competitive landscapes to inform business strategies.
•
Collaborate with internal teams, including R&D, Technology Transfer, Quality Assurance, and Regulatory Affairs, to facilitate seamless technology transfers and product development from Asian partners.
•
Manage the end-to-end process of contract manufacturing, including supplier audits, quality control, risk assessment, and performance monitoring to ensure timely delivery and adherence to international standards.
•
Drive business development initiatives to expand the portfolio of injectable products and other value-added formulations, identifying opportunities for innovation and market entry.
•
Prepare reports, presentations, and proposals for senior management on partnership progress, potential risks, and growth opportunities.
•
Travel frequently to Asian countries including China for on-site visits, negotiations, audits, and relationship-building activities.
•
Ensure all activities comply with ethical standards, international trade regulations, and company policies.
Qualifications and Experience
•
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Pharmacy, Business Administration, Chemistry, or a related field. An MBA or advanced certification in pharmaceutical management is preferred.
•
Minimum of 7-10 years of relevant experience in business development, contract manufacturing, or supply chain management within the pharmaceutical industry.
•
Proven experience working directly with Asian manufacturers, including sourcing, negotiation, and partnership management.
•
In-depth knowledge of USFDA, EU GMP, and other regulatory requirements for pharmaceutical products in the US, EU, UK, and Canada markets.
•
Strong understanding of value-added pharmaceutical portfolios, particularly injections, including formulation, manufacturing processes, and market dynamics.
•
Willingness and ability to travel frequently to Asian Countries and mostly China (valid passport required).
Skills and Competencies
•
Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with fluency in English; proficiency in Mandarin Chinese is a significant advantage.
•
Strategic thinker with strong analytical abilities and a results-oriented mindset.

Proficiency in project management tools and CRM software.
•
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, multicultural environment while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
