Company Description

We are building an oncology NGS reporting platform for targeted cancer panels.

We need a bioinformatics full-stack developer to build a web-based report generator for ngs analysis.

Scope:

Build a secure web dashboard for sample creation and file upload.
Upload and parse VCF files generated from Basepair.
Upload Basepair QC metrics and display pass/fail QC summary.
Import Franklin/Genoox interpretation export if available.
Extract gene, variant, cDNA/protein change, VAF, depth, transcript, clinical significance, and interpretation fields.
Integrate ClinicalTrials.gov API to search recruiting trials based on cancer type, gene, and variant.
Generate branded oncology NGS PDF reports.
Generate Excel/CSV variant tables.
Add manual scientist review/edit screen before final report generation.
report versioning, and basic audit log.

Preferred stack:

Python FastAPI, PostgreSQL, React or simple HTML frontend, Docker, Jinja2/WeasyPrint for PDF generation, openpyxl for Excel export.

Role Description

This is a contract role for a Bioinformatics Software Developer. The developer will work in a hybrid mode, based in Berlin, Germany or Eastern Europe with some flexibility for remote work. Key responsibilities include designing, implementing, and testing bioinformatics software solutions, analyzing biological datasets, and collaborating with researchers and healthcare professionals to develop tools for diagnostic and research purposes. Additionally, the developer will maintain and enhance existing systems to ensure operational efficiency and accuracy.

Qualifications

Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or Perl, with knowledge of bioinformatics tools and frameworks.
Experience managing and analyzing large biological datasets, such as genomic or proteomic data, utilizing skills in data processing and algorithm design.
Knowledge of software development practices, including version control (e.g., Git), debugging, and testing.
Strong understanding of molecular biology, genomics, and related scientific fields.
Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Experience with cloud computing platforms and database management is a plus.
Master’s or Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or a related discipline is strongly preferred.
