Backend Engineer  | IMIN (Remote - Eastern Europe)

The Details

• Part-time, contract - 10–20 hours/week

• Remote — open to candidates based in Eastern Europe

• Compensation:

  To be discussed based on experience

• Start Date: Immediate

• Overlap preferred: ~3 hours within the 10:00–18:00 CET window, Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Otherwise fully flexible hours.

Tech stack

• Runtime: Bun + TypeScript across the monorepo
• API: Elysia (imin-api), TypeBox for schemas and validation end-to-end
• Web admin tool: SvelteKit (imin-web-app)
• Shared library: imin-lib — domain modules, job definitions, repo functions
• Database: PostgreSQL via postgres.js (no ORM — hand-written SQL is the norm)
• Job runner: imin-job-runner for async work (analysis submission, background tasks)

What we’re looking for

• Strong TypeScript fundamentals and comfort working across the whole stack — API, web, DB — rather than siloing in one layer.
• Fluent enough in SQL to design schemas, write non-trivial queries, and reason about migrations on production data. You should be comfortable without an ORM.
• Judgment about when to build the simple version, when to generalize, and when to push back on scope. We're not looking for abstraction maximalists.
• Product sense: understanding why a feature exists and what it needs to do for the user beats mechanical ticket completion.
• Ability to maintain the schema of a headless CMS system and keep data pipelines running cleanly.

Nice to have

• Exposure to job queues, background processing, or any flavor of signal processing or biometric data.
• Experience with Svelte or SvelteKit.
• A background in health, wellness, or regulated-adjacent products (we care about data handling and the lived meaning of the numbers we show).
