Octotronic is a fast growing Industrial Tech startup building a data platform that enables manufacturing companies worldwide to optimize production with data and AI. We are an engineering driven product team working with customers like BMW, Autoneum and Nestlé. Role

As a Backend Engineer, you will build and operate the critical core services that power Octotronic’s industrial data platform. Your work enables factories to stream, structure and analyse high volume machine data in real time and to run AI driven use cases directly on the shopfloor. You will design the services that connect machines, sensors, cameras and enterprise systems into one unified data layer.

This role is central to the product. The components you build are used daily by engineers and operators in global production lines. You will collaborate directly with customers to understand how your systems behave in real environments and you will see immediately how your work impacts reliability, performance and usability in factories worldwide.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and operate backend services and APIs
• Implement structured and reliable data processing pipelines
• Integrate industrial protocols and external systems
• Collaborate with product and frontend on end to end solutions
• Ensure high code quality through testing, structure and documentation
• Contribute to architectural decisions and platform evolution

Requirements

• At least three years of experience as a backend engineer
• Degree in Computer Science or comparable technical education
• Strong expertise in Go
• Experience with APIs, microservices and production deployments
• Clean, testable and maintainable coding style
• Analytical mindset and high attention to detail
• Valid Swiss work permit

Nice to Have

• Experience with MQTT, OPC UA, Modbus or similar industrial protocols
• Background with real time data, machine connectivity or edge systems
• Basic knowledge of React or TypeScript
• Performance and stability mindset in production environments
