Why Aidoptation?
At Aidoptation, we work on the hardest problems in autonomous driving: high-speed, safety-critical scenarios where precision and robustness matter. Our technology is proven at racing speeds and translated into real-world highway autonomy. To succeed, we recruit the best engineers globally. We receive a high volume of applications and referrals and select for excellence and commitment alongside deep technical competence.
Role Description
We’re looking for an AV Engineer to design and own the vehicle dynamics control layer for high-speed automated driving. You’ll develop lateral and longitudinal control for trajectory tracking, stability, and safety-critical manoeuvres at high speed. This includes designing robust control architectures such as feedforward and feedback control, MPC, gain scheduling, and constraint handling, with clearly defined KPIs and safety envelopes. You’ll build and maintain the interface between planning outputs and vehicle actuators including steering, brakes, and powertrain, ensuring feasibility through rate limits, diagnostics, and fault handling. You own tuning, validation, and regression workflows across SIL, HIL, and vehicle testing, using repeatable procedures and measurable metrics. Working closely with planning, localization, and systems engineers, you’ll help close the loop end-to-end. You’ll also contribute hands-on to vehicle integration, logging, data analysis, and track and road test campaigns.
MSc in Control, Mechanical, Automotive, Robotics, or similar.
2+ years of relevant industry or research experience.
Solid fundamentals in vehicle dynamics, stability, and control theory.
Exposure to MPC, gain scheduling, or constraint-based control.
Experience with simulation workflows (SIL and basic HIL) and vehicle testing.
Familiarity with CAN and automotive interfaces, plus timing and synchronization basics.
Interest in high-performance vehicles and limit handling topics.
This is a full-time internal position and is not open to external consultants or service providers.
Hands-on experience in C++ and or MATLAB/Simulink, with disciplined testing habits.
Comfortable operating in Linux environments and ROS 2 (required).
Driving license valid in the EU.
Startup mentality: hands-on, proactive, and ready to take ownership.
Fluent English (Dutch is a plus)
