Automation Test Architect – EMS/NMS Applications
Contract | Fully Remote (India-based)
This is a long-term contract (12–18 months) offering the opportunity to work on a highly complex, carrier-grade system with significant ownership across test strategy, framework architecture, and technical leadership.

Rate: $40–45 per hour (approx. £270/day)
Role Overview
As the Automation Test Architect, you will own the overall test automation strategy and architecture for the EMS/NMS platform, ensuring high reliability, performance, and scalability across UI, backend services, networking layers, and infrastructure.
You will work closely with engineering and QA teams, provide technical leadership, and embed automation deeply into CI/CD pipelines and cloud-native environments.
Key Responsibilities
Test Strategy & Framework Architecture
- Define and evolve the test automation strategy covering UI, APIs, gRPC/gNMI services, databases, and infrastructure.
- Design scalable, maintainable automation frameworks for:
- Web (AngularJS)
- Desktop (ElectronJS)
- Backend services (Node.js, GoLang, gRPC)
- Establish best practices for automation, including coding standards, modularity, reusability, and test data management.
CI/CD & Cloud Integration
- Integrate automation into CI/CD pipelines (e.g. Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Google Cloud Build).
- Build and maintain automated test environments in GCP/GKE.
- Implement infrastructure and environment testing using tools such as Terratest and Testcontainers.
- Ensure fast, reliable feedback from automated test runs.
Technical Leadership
- Provide hands-on technical leadership and mentorship to automation engineers.
- Conduct code reviews and promote automation and quality-first practices.
- Evaluate and introduce new tools and technologies to continuously improve automation capabilities.
- Test Automation & Execution
- Identify and prioritise automation opportunities across functional, integration, failover, and failback scenarios.
- Oversee development, execution, and maintenance of automated test suites.
- Ensure comprehensive coverage across all application layers.
Reporting & Quality Metrics
- Implement reporting for automated test results, coverage, and defect trends.
- Define and track key quality metrics to measure effectiveness of the automation strategy.
