Position Description:
The Department of Physics & Astronomy at McMaster University invites applications for a two-year limited term teaching faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor starting August 1, 2026.
Candidates must have completed a PhD in a relevant discipline by the start date of the appointment, and must have a strong track record of innovative, evidence-based teaching of introductory physics at the undergraduate level. Experience designing introductory physics courses, teaching physics to engineers, and interest in pedagogy research and innovation in teaching and learning would be assets.
The Department of Physics & Astronomy presently consists of 30 faculty with strengths in astrophysics, biophysics, medical physics, particle physics, quantum condensed matter physics, and soft condensed matter physics. We offer undergraduate degrees in Astrophysics, Medical & Biological Physics, and Physics, with co-op opportunities available, and graduate degrees in Physics & Astronomy and Radiation Sciences.
