Analytical Chemist (LC/MS and in vitro ADME):
We are currently seeking a highly motivated Analytical Chemist (ADME) in the Medicinal Chemistry Group based in Torre Annunziata - Naples.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate will be an experienced and dynamic scientist with a proven track record as an analytical chemist. The candidate is expected to work in a team led by the Head of the Hit & Lead Discovery Group and in a multidisciplinary environment.
He/She will be familiar with the early steps of the integrated drug discovery process.
His or her responsibilities will include:
Analysis of samples from various sources;
Development and validation HPLC methods for the analysis and the purification of compounds, including chiral separation;
Development and validation of highly sensitive and reliable LC/MS methodologies;
Acquisition and interpretation of 1D and 2D NMR experiments for chemical structure elucidation;
Performance and interpretation of in vitro ADME assays, including at least chemical stability, solubility, microsomal stability, PAMPA permeability, Plasma Protein Binding and plasma stability assays;
Development and validation of new assays when required;
Preparation of method development reports for reliable, sensitive, and qualified analytical methods;
Preparation of summary reports and presentation of results to clients;
Ensuring that all work performed is performed effectively, efficiently and to the highest standard within area of responsibility;
Partner with and support the Hit & Lead Discovery group during integrated programs;
Provides cross-functional support to other groups as required;
Following safe working practices, complying with appropriate legislation and keeping appropriate laboratory records;
Owns the accountability and responsibility of delivering to client needs and timeliness.
QUALIFICATION & SKILLS:
Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology, Pharmacy, CTF, Chemistry;
A deep knowledge and practical experience of high-performance liquid chromatography, mass spectrometry (single quadrupole, triple quadrupole mass spectrometer and high-resolution mass spectrometer) and NMR;
A deep knowledge and practical experience in preliminary in vitro ADME investigations;
Knowledge of AS-MS instrumentations and application;
Experience with automated liquid handling platforms instruments is considered a plus;
Experience in synthetic chemistry is considered a plus;
Previous industrial experience is considered a plus;
Time management skills;
Knowledge of laboratory automation software, chemistry software for analytical, and Microsoft application;
Ability to use IT systems to support laboratory operations e.g. literature searching;
Good analytical, interpersonal and teamwork skills, precision, and flexibility;
Ability to manage activities with tight deadlines and high matrix complexity;
Consistent and reliable approach to work, diligent and precise management of activities;
Good written and spoken English.
