Overview

We are hiring experienced AI Software Engineers with expertise in DevOps/MLOps to help our research teams advance model and algorithm development. You will own significant portions of the research infrastructure, including data processing pipelines, testing infrastructure, and distributed training software.

Responsibilities

Depending on your profile, you will contribute to one or more of the following areas:

• Design and continuous development of the research infrastructure, improving code quality, testing, and feature delivery.
• Support the development, training, and maintenance of deep learning models in collaboration with researchers and SW/HW engineers.
• Develop and optimize lower-level code for data processing, tokenization, or research projects.
• Contribute software-engineering expertise to research projects, including agent interfaces or data generation.
• Help transition AI research innovations into real-world applications.
• Engage in the hiring process and mentor engineers and researchers in software development best practices.

Technical Environment

• Most training code is written in Python, with PyTorch as the main deep learning framework.
• Some lower-level code is written in Rust.

Your Profile

Basic Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional software development experience, solving complex problems independently.
• 2+ years of experience in the design or architecture of systems, contributing critical path code.
• Proficiency in at least one major programming language and ability to implement complex changes.
• Strong communication skills to convey technical solutions to diverse audiences.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a closely related field.
• Willingness to relocate to Heidelberg, Germany, or visit regularly.

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience across the full software development lifecycle.
• Skills in integrating complex systems with cross-team collaboration.
• Proven experience designing and delivering scalable systems into production environments.
• Familiarity with systems programming and low-level languages such as Rust.
• Master’s degree in computer science or related fields is preferred.
• Eagerness to learn about machine learning; prior experience is a plus.
