We're seeking curious, driven, high-agency AI Engineer Interns or Juniors eager to accelerate their careers by transforming AI models into life-changing healthcare applications.
About the Role
In this role, you'll collaborate with AI engineers, data scientists, and clinicians to convert multi-omics, pregnancy, and clinical data into actionable AI models and features, such as predictive algorithms for maternal health risks. You'll gain hands-on experience in data exploration, rapid prototyping, iterative testing, and contributing to innovative AI tools that could reach millions of users worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and iterate AI prototypes, including prompt engineering, data preprocessing, and model experimentation using frameworks like PyTorch or Hugging Face.
- Analyze pregnancy datasets, public resources, and multi-omics data; document key insights and visualizations for cross-functional teams.
- Review cutting-edge AI/ML research, benchmark models, and prototype new techniques to enhance our healthcare platform.
- Contribute scalable software components that integrate clinical and genomic data, following best practices for clean, maintainable code.
- Partner with product, clinical, and engineering teams to evolve prototypes into production-ready MVPs, with clear documentation and user feedback loops.
What We're Looking For
- Currently pursuing or holding a degree in Computer Science, AI, Data Science, Bioinformatics or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proficiency in Python with practical experience in AI/ML or LLMs (e.g., via personal projects or coursework).
- Familiarity with SQL, data manipulation libraries (e.g., Polars, DuckDB), and an eagerness to deepen technical skills.
- Self-motivated and proactive mindset: You experiment with AI tools independently, communicate ideas effectively, and thrive on turning concepts into working prototypes.
- Passion for healthcare innovation, particularly in maternal and prenatal care—bonus if you've volunteered or worked in related areas.
- Extra credit for Kaggle competitions, GitHub repos, LLM fine-tuning, RAG systems, vector DBs, or basic bioinformatics.
