Unit Summary:
The Michael G. DeGroote Centre for Transfusion Research (MCTR) is an academic research centre based at McMaster University. The Centre is dedicated to improving health outcomes for both blood transfusion recipients and blood donors, while also ensuring the safety and sustainability of the blood supply. MCTR’s diverse research portfolio includes clinical trials, large-scale database studies, and laboratory-based discovery science.
Reporting to the Budget & Financial Analyst, the Accounting Assistant will provide support for the financial and administrative operations of MCTR. This role is integral to the smooth functioning of the Centre, assisting with billing, account collections, financial transactions, data entry, and administrative support of Centre activities.
Job Summary:
The Accounting Assistant (II) will be responsible for applying a thorough knowledge and understanding of accounting policies and procedures to process financial transactions. This position records, classifies and summarizes accounting data according to established procedures. The successful incumbent ensures accuracy and
compliance with existing guidelines, policies, and procedures, and provides guidance and training to staff on proper accounting procedures and the use of financial systems.
