The Robotics Institute Germany (RIG) is a collaborative initiative supported by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space, aiming to advance AI-powered robotics in Germany. RIG connects leading robotics hubs, experts, and talents across science, academia, and industry to foster cutting-edge research, develop groundbreaking technologies, and drive transformative applications. The institute focuses on five key areas: Research, through national centers and a joint roadmap; Education, with a talent program to attract and develop specialists; Infrastructure, by pooling existing technical resources for a collaborative ecosystem; Benchmarking, to make robotic research comparable through accessible benchmarks and competitions; and Transfer & Industry, promoting dialogue and accelerating the cycle from research to commercialization. RIG's mission is to strengthen Germany's global leadership in AI-based robotics and ensure technological sovereignty in this future field.
