PHENET
PHENET is an EU-funded project that brings together European Research Infrastructures (RI) in plant phenotyping (EMPHASIS), ecosystems experimentation (AnaEE), long-term observation (eLTER), and data management (ELIXIR). The project aims to co-develop new tools and methods with innovative companies to identify future-proof combinations of species, genotypes, and management practices for various climatic scenarios across Europe. PHENET will enhance access to in-situ phenotypic and environmental data through AI-based multi-sensor devices, Earth Observation data integration, FAIR data principles, and predictive modeling including AI and digital twins. The project will demonstrate the portability of these solutions across diverse agroecosystems and ecosystems through eight Use Cases, with some utilizing on-farm data. Significant effort will be dedicated to training RI staff and expanding user reach. PHENET aims to strengthen RIs and foster the development of innovative companies in phenotyping, envirotyping, and precision agriculture, contributing to climate-smart crop varieties and innovative practices for agroecological transition.
