Orca Hub develops robotics, artificial intelligence and autonomous systems to make offshore asset inspection, monitoring and maintenance safer and more cost‑effective. The hub is a university‑led research programme combining robotics, computer vision, planning and control, human‑robot interaction with explainable AI, and robot/asset self‑certification to enable autonomous and semi‑autonomous inspection across aerial, topside and marine domains. Work spans mapping, surveying, inspection, manipulation and autonomous decision‑making and progresses technologies through the Technology Readiness Level (TRL) scale toward commercial use. The programme partners five universities with over thirty industry collaborators to translate research into products and services for the UK offshore supply chain. Orca Hub targets offshore energy operators and their suppliers seeking remote, certifiable asset integrity solutions.
