The Helmholtz School for Marine Data Science (MarDATA) is a research school focused on defining and establishing "Marine Data Science" within marine research. It trains graduates in computer science at the intersection of data science and marine science, aiming to leverage vast amounts of ocean data collected by numerous measuring instruments. MarDATA offers young scientists a unique opportunity to develop data science methods specifically for ocean study, a combination that is unique in Germany. The program lasts three years with full funding and includes supervision by marine research and data science experts, specialized courses in programming, statistics, machine learning, and computer vision, as well as summer schools and opportunities for international exchange.
