FutureCat is advancing lithium-ion cathode materials to extend EV range and durability. It is a collaborative project funded by The Faraday Institution, bringing together 7 academic institutions and 9 industrial partners. The work spans atomic interactions to electrode architectures, using computational methods and machine learning for material discovery. The goal focuses on earth-abundant, cobalt-free materials and low-energy synthesis to enable sustainable battery development. The project targets electric vehicle manufacturers and battery research institutions as primary customers.
