
The Cyprus Marine and Maritime Institute (CMMI) is a Centre of Excellence in Marine and Maritime Research, Innovation, and Technology Development based in Larnaca, Cyprus. Established in April 2019 with funding from the EU's Horizon 2020 program and the Cyprus Government, CMMI aims to drive sustainable Blue Growth by addressing the needs of industry and society in marine and maritime sectors. It operates through ten Research and Innovation Centres focusing on areas like marine technology, robotics, digitalization, marine observation, ecosystems, biotechnology, human element, cultural heritage, and policy. CMMI's scientific staff engages in projects focused on decarbonization, biodiversity protection, pollution control, digital ocean knowledge systems, and workforce development, with expertise in naval architecture, marine engineering, oceanography, AI, and more. Their target markets include maritime transport, shipbuilding, marine renewable energy, ports, tourism, marine resources, blue biotechnology, and maritime defense.
