AIAMO is a research project funded by the German Federal Ministry of Transport, led by ITS Germany e.V., involving 13 partners to develop AI-based environmental and mobility management solutions. The project aims to make mobility more efficient, resource-saving, safe, and needs-based by applying AI processes to mobility management strategies for the first time. It focuses on cross-sector, data-sovereign information acquisition by networking mobility providers, simplifying data collection to enable environmentally oriented and multimodal mobility management. AIAMO targets easy market access for SMEs and many cities, providing an integration zone for environmental and mobility management and public transport data. The project includes AI-based applications for interaction between infrastructure, vehicles, and mobility participants, digital twins of traffic and environment, and environmentally sensitive traffic management. The project started in July 2023, with a volume of 22.3 million euros, and runs until June 2026, positioning AIAMO as a central research initiative in AI for sustainable mobility in Germany.
