
AI4b.io is a research collaboration between DSM and Delft University of Technology focused on applying Artificial Intelligence (AI) to bioscience for long-term innovation in biobased products and production technologies. Their mission is to understand how novel AI can enhance research and business processes in the biotech industry. The lab investigates AI/ML concepts from large-scale manufacturing to lab operations and metabolic levels, with projects including AI-assisted fermentation digital twins, smart plant scheduling, AI for self-driving laboratories, machine learning for metabolic engineering, and microbiome-based precision feed. AI4b.io is part of the Dutch National Innovation Center for AI (ICAI), aiming to keep the Netherlands at the forefront of AI knowledge and talent development.
